Goodbye July, already?!?!

I don't know where the time goes! But alas, I suppose that is life with an infant. The perpetual cycle of eat.sleep.poo. doesn't seem like it should take all that long and it seems that with all that sleep in there a person would have time to get something done, but it's just not true. It's okay though, we are having a great time with our little Kaida and love watching her become more and more awake and aware. She is starting to really look at us which is wonderful and she is just so alert when she is awake. She is growing like crazy and seems bigger every day. Last week the doctor confirmed that she did, in fact, gain almost 2 lbs in the two weeks after we left the hospital which is pretty amazing. She is so long and skinny and just beautiful. I am pretty sure we are going to blink and it will be time for her first birthday. Watching a little person develop from the very beginning is a fascinating thing.

We've had a busy couple of weeks filled with visitors and lots of teaching for Brandon as we simultaneously try to get into some sort of routine. His summer class will be over at the end of next week and then the following week we will be heading to Jersey to visit and introduce our little lady :) Not too long after that the semester will start for Brandon and we will be adjusting to a whole new routine. We are certainly enjoying the summer though and can't believe that August is just 2 short days away.

As a final note, we also celebrated our first wedding anniversary this month! I can't believe it's already been a year and I still think about this time last year and how great it was. Getting married = good decision and it has been a really great year. Amazing what can happen in that amount of time haha. And now, the cycle continues and I must go.

Baby Davis-Shannon has arrived!

Exactly two weeks ago on July 3, 2010, Kaida Elizabeth made her entrance and joined our little family. She was born at 11:26am and weighed in at 7lbs 8oz and 20 1/4 inches long. She is beautiful and we absolutely love her, although we are naturally a little sleep deprived at this point :) Monday we go to the pediatrician for her 2 week check up so we'll see what the stats are. In the mean time we just love watching her change daily and trying to keep up with her ever changing 'schedule.' That's all for now, but hopefully more frequent updates will start now that we are more settled and have something to update about! And we leave you with this picture. Rest assured many more are to come.

Why hello July!

Well, baby's due date has come and gone and our junebug has turned into a julybug. Not quite as catchy, eh? Ah well. The past month has been pretty uneventful....Brandon has been teaching his summer class which ended last week and I have been crafting away trying to distract myself from an increasingly protruding belly. It has been pretty productive, I must say. And the waiting continues as we now wonder whether we will have a 4th of July baby. One thing is certain, baby will arrive one way or another by the end of next week, but really any day now is a safe bet. In any case, baby looks happy and healthy and is definitely preparing for it's exit according to the midwife. We anticipate a lot of adorable baby fat rolls to kiss :) I guess there really isn't too much else to say. Brandon starts teaching his second session class next week and we sure do hope baby gets here soon and doesn't interrupt that too much. So hopefully next post will have pictures of our brand new adorable baby boy or girl.
